![]() Though RimWorld has a mod menu built-in, it could be better. These are the glue that binds a lot of the work we’re going to be doing.įinally, there’s Fluffy’s Mod Manager. As such, you just need to have it installed, alongside Harmony, and leave it at that. It’s a shared library that acts as a foundation for other addons. You can install it anywhere, so giving it a folder on the desktop worked for me. It should organise all your mods, enabling them to work together without any conflicts. Grab Mod Sorter and run it after all the mods have been installed. There is one thing you need to get elsewhere, though. I’ll link to the Steam Workshop page for you to click on and download. Steam is all you need for to grab these mods. Manage cookie settings How to install RimWorld Mods To see this content please enable targeting cookies. After a few hundred hours (you can’t play RimWorld for less than that), you deserve to have some help. That’s not to say things will be easier, as there are a number of mods that could result in more trying circumstances, but you’ll be playing RimwWrld with just a touch more information about what’s happening, and with some of the busywork dealt with. I’ve been looking around for mods that will give you a bit more control in all the chaos. It’s great, but that’s not the only way to play. You’re in charge of growing a small colony of newly landed pawns on a hostile planet, and everything from the elements to squirrels can take you down. RimWorld is a calamity simulator, where things can go so wrong so quickly that you’re left with everything on fire and Donald Glover looking confused in the middle of it all. Dominic has hung up his modding tools, so Craig is going to be writing the series from now on. I even created a custom scenario with all the correct loadout and correct number of custom guys.Įven manual changes in Prepare Carefully to the existing random guys like changing their outfit color do not stick.Every other Monday, we give you a reason to dust off one of your old games and dive into its mods with Modder Superior. It gives me all the correct options and acts like its going to work right until I click Start and get stuck back with default guys again. The mod is checked green in Mods section. I try deleting them all one by one, reloading my guys, loading a new loadout on the next screen, nothing seems to work.Įvery single variation I think of to start a new match with the guys I created just reverts back to default guys. I create a new mission, do everything up until I click Prepare Carefully, create all the guys, I even saved each one just in case, picked my gear, and when I start the game, it just reverts back to the default 6 guys randomly picked at the start. I installed the mod to \steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods\. This is A 14 version installed for Steam manually. So the save/load preset options are amazing as well.Įven if whoever takes this mod over limits the scope of it to just that, I'd be incredibly grateful. All of that can be wasted in an instant with a bad map. On average I would spend 11 minutes rolling on random characters to get a decent first three. I enjoy randomness, but having absolutely no way of modifying the stats of the initial colonists (even in a limited way, such as selecting a type or "class" that informs the type of stats that get randomized) makes for a tedious experience getting started. However, as many have already said, there is no way to customize the individual colonists, which is what I always found to be the most important aspect of this mod. ![]() ![]() The devs obviously saw that value in them as most of them were implemented in the game in this update. I appreciate all the work that EdB put into the mod. I hope someone or some group decides to take up the Prepare Carefully mantle after this. Would the OP allow me (or someone else) to take over the mod and upload it to the workshop? The game is hell without this mod, and I'd rather dump hours of my own life just to be able to make this game fun again, than see this mod die. ![]()
